This Buddha’s head is 46 cm high, so the full statue would have been taller than life-size. The hollow head shows great artistry. Both the head and its cranial protuberance are covered in closely packed hair knobs, and on the very top is a light of wisdom. These are important stylistic traits of the Shan State in Burma from the seventeenth century on.

　　The nose is wide and has a delicate bridge. The head tilts slightly downwards, with half-open eyes, and the thin lips wear a gentle smile that expresses a trancelike peace. This is a fine specimen of seventeenth- or eighteenth-century Burmese art.
