It is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00 except for Mondays when it is closed.

On the opening day of our soft launch, Dec. 28th, 2015, the Museum will be open from 2-5 pm with free admission limited only to the local residents of Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan.  

From Dec. 29th, 2015 to Mar. 31st, 2016, admission for all visitors will be free. From Apr. 1st through June. 30th, 2016, admission will be free for registered residents of Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan presenting ID Cards.

To ensure a high quality experience, all visits must be booked in advance online with tickets being purchased on-site on the scheduled visit day. Our online booking system operates 24/7 and provides booking services ranging from the 20th of each month to the end of the next month. Please note we don’t accept same-day reservations.

If making reservations for individuals, the maximum allowable is 9 people. If you wish to make reservations for 10 or more people, please reserve them as a group. The maximum group size is 45 people in total.

The museum grounds have a tour bus transfer service as outlined below:

A.Our BOT project operator will provide a pay to use tour bus transfer service. The project proposal is as follows:

1.Vehicle Model：Electric-powered bus

2.Operating hours: Tuesdays through Sundays (the grounds are closed on Mondays) from 9 AM through 8 PM.

3.Bus frequency: on average one bus shift every 15 to 30 minutes.

4.Passenger capacity: each bus seats 20 passengers with space for an additional 10 passengers to stand.

B. The aforementioned tour bus provides accessible services to visitors.

Depending on the number of people lined up on-site, we can grant late arrivals up to 20 minutes leeway from their scheduled arrival time. Note: Walking from the parking lot to the entrance hall takes 15-20 minutes. We advise you to take this and the route and traffic situation into careful account and be sure to arrive early.

If you can’t get to the museum on schedule, please cancel online before 12pm at least one day prior to your visit day. If you don’t cancel online in advance and fail to show up three times or more, we will suspend your right to make online bookings for three month.

We offer free admission on the following days: New Year’s Day, Lantern Festival, International Museum Day (May 18th), World Tourism Day (Sep. 27th), National Day of the Republic of China (Oct. 10th), the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum Opening Memorial Day (Dec. 28th). (Special Exhibitions excluded)
